Highly prized by florists and flower growers, its striking colour, excellent vase life and reliable productivity make it a standout choice for both garden and cutting use.

🌱 Plant details

Our Scabiosa Caucasica Fama Deep Blue plants are grown here in South Devon using peat-free compost and supplied as strong, well-established 1 litre plants.

Each plant is carefully raised to ensure:

strong, healthy root development
vigorous, bushy growth
excellent flowering performance
reliable establishment once planted

🌿 Hardiness & growing note

Scabiosa ‘Fama Deep Blue’ is a hardy perennial in most parts of the UK and will return year after year when grown in suitable conditions.

Plants benefit from a sunny position and well-drained soil. In heavier soils, incorporating organic matter and improving drainage will help ensure long-term success.

🌸 Flowering & habit

‘Fama Deep Blue’ produces an abundance of large, pincushion-style blooms held above attractive mounds of finely divided foliage. The flowers are carried on long, sturdy stems that are ideal for cutting and arranging.

Plants develop a neat, bushy habit and are perfect for:

cutting gardens
mixed herbaceous borders
cottage garden planting
floristry production
pollinator-friendly gardens

Regular harvesting encourages continued flowering and a longer display season.

🌞 Flowering season

Scabiosa ‘Fama Deep Blue’ flowers from early summer through to autumn, producing successive flushes of blooms over many months.

Frequent cutting and deadheading help maintain flowering and encourage further stem production throughout the season.

🐝 Pollinator friendly

The open flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinating insects, making ‘Fama Deep Blue’ a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly planting schemes.

Easy to grow and rewarding to cultivate, Scabiosa ‘Fama Deep Blue’ performs best in:

🌿 How to grow

Plant in a sunny, well-drained position, spacing approximately 40–50 cm apart to allow good airflow and healthy growth.

Water thoroughly after planting and keep moist while establishing. Once settled, plants require relatively little maintenance beyond occasional watering during prolonged dry spells.

Deadhead regularly or harvest stems frequently for cutting to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season. In late autumn, cut back faded growth and allow plants to re-emerge the following spring.
