Potomac ‘Plumblossom’ – Tall, Later-Flowering Snapdragon

If you’re looking for a snapdragon that brings something a little different to the garden — something soft, romantic, and beautifully unique — Potomac ‘Plumblossom’ is a true standout. Part of the well-loved Potomac series, this variety produces tall, elegant stems topped with gentle plum, mauve, and blush-pink blooms, each one blending into the next with a pretty, watercolour-like softness. It’s the perfect choice for gardeners and cut-flower growers who love subtle, dreamy colours rather than anything too bold or brash.

The Potomac series is known for its height, strength, and exceptional reliability, and ‘Plumblossom’ is no exception. These plants grow tall and upright, producing uniform stems that are perfect for cutting — long, straight, and sturdy enough to hold their shape in bouquets. They also flower later in the season, making them incredibly useful for extending your colour display once earlier snapdragon varieties have begun to fade. If you’re planning a garden or cutting patch with continuous blooms from early summer through to the end of the season, this variety slots in beautifully.

Colour-wise, Potomac ‘Plumblossom’ is an absolute charmer. The petals shift from soft blush at the lower parts of the stem to paler mauve and dusky plum tones higher up. It’s a shade that works beautifully in modern gardens with muted colour palettes, but it’s just as at home in whimsical cottage-style borders. For cutting, it’s a dream — pairing effortlessly with whites, pale pinks, lavender tones, sage greens, and silvers. It’s also a surprisingly good mixer with deeper colours like burgundy or chocolate cosmos, adding gentle depth without overpowering them.

As with all our plants, your snapdragons are raised in our South Devon nursery, grown using peat-free compost to support strong root development and healthy top growth. Each order includes 6 jumbo plug plants, which arrive well-rooted and ready to flourish once planted in the garden. We pack all our plants in hado bags — our biodegradable or reusable packaging that protects your pots during delivery while helping reduce waste.

Why Potomac ‘Plumblossom’ Is a Garden Favourite

There’s something irresistibly elegant about this variety. While many snapdragons bring bold, bright colours to the garden, ‘Plumblossom’ offers something softer. It fills that much-loved pastel niche, helping tie together planting schemes and giving you a reliable cutting flower that adds romance and lightness to arrangements.

For pollinators, it’s a welcome treat. Bees especially enjoy the tall, nectar-rich blooms, and the height makes them easy to spot on warm summer days.

Growing Potomac ‘Plumblossom’

Plant after the last frost in a sunny or lightly sheltered spot. As the plants grow tall, they benefit from a little support — especially in windy gardens. Regular cutting not only gives you armfuls of stems for the house, but also encourages the plants to keep producing right through summer. Water well during dry spells and feed lightly for the strongest blooms.
