Out of all the poppies available this beautiful grey variety is one we look forward to seeing bloom every year.  This mix we gather from the farm produces shades ranging from pale lilac, deep plum, brick red and blue grey.  The flowers are sometimes single petals, delicate and ethereal and others are full of ballerina tutu frills.

The thrill of watching what appears is part of the joy of growing these each year.  They will self sow around if left to go to seed and the poppy seed heads make excellent dried stems.

Growing Guide
This is an easy to grow hardy annual, start seeds in Spring or Autumn.
Poppies dislike root disturbance and grow well from direct sowing, germination takes between 3-7 days with a temperature between 18-20 C.
Situate these hardy annuals in full sun, cut stems regularly to encourage repeat flowering, and leave some flowers to form the fabulous seed pods in late summer.
Height:  40-60cm

Saving seed and sharing locally sourced seeds varieties are so important for a variety of reasons…

Often the seeds are better suited to the specific UK growing environment, soil conditions and pests of the area increasing the likelihood of successful sowings and higher yields from flower harvests.

Supporting local seed suppliers helps preserve genetic diversity which is crucial for maintaining resilient plant populations and ensuring the survival of native plant varieties.

Locally sourced seeds reduce the carbon footprint associated with imported seed supporting sustainable agriculture.
