Helichrysum Bracteatum (Strawflower) Coppery Red Seeds

Once grown, never forgotten!  The papery, crinkly sound of strawflower petals is in direct contrast to the soft velvet of their centres when fully open.
This russet red shade is especially great in Autumnal inspired bouquets, we love to pair it with spidery Chrysanthemums, crisp Autumn leaves and seasonal berries – of course it is also great when dried and used in any everlasting arrangements and Christmas Wreaths!
Growing Guide
This is an easy to grow flower, allow light whilst the seed is germinating and provide a temperature between 22-24C.  We plant out after the last of the frosts in late April when the roots fill a jumbo plug.
Situate these hardy annuals in full sun, we pinch the growing tips to encourage branching stems and cut before the flower has fully opened all the way  – do this if you don’t want them to look fully open when dried.
Cut and Come again, we harvest these from August to the first frosts!
These varieties of seed we are working on producing ourselves, whilst we wait on our own seed trials here on our field in Devon we have made available the same seed we sow from trusted sources.
