Category:

Godetia is an unusual cut flower to grow, producing long stems with multiple flowers opening one after the other.  The colour is reminiscent of ballet slippers – satin white with a pale pink sheen and a unique fresh scent.  Really useful and easy to incorporate into bouquet work, we love this easy to grow hardy annual and hope you love it too.

Growing Guide:

An easy to grow hardy annual, germination takes 10-14 days requiring light so do not bury the seed deeply, an average temp of 20-22 C is ideal.  We start seeds in late March and plant out when the roots fill a small cell.

We start ours in March and plant out in late April/May.  We pinch out the growing main shoot to encourage branching and therefore more flowers!

Saving seed and sharing locally sourced seeds varieties are so important for a variety of reasons…

Often the seeds are better suited to the specific UK growing environment, soil conditions and pests of the area increasing the likelihood of successful sowings and higher yields from flower harvests.

Supporting local seed suppliers helps preserve genetic diversity which is crucial for maintaining resilient plant populations and ensuring the survival of native plant varieties.

Locally sourced seeds reduce the carbon footprint associated with imported seed supporting sustainable agriculture.
